Gonna be full of firsts for a long time...
Tonight was the first time that he laughed! I had changed a nice big poopy diaper, so he was definitely feeling good, and I still had him on the changing table when I used my finger nails over his belly, chest and neck. He was giving some good big smiles, and then a couple of little laughs, or at least as close as he is to laughing at this point.
So not only is this when he is just realizing that when we are tickling him, it actually tickles, but he is finding his laugh:) I can't wait for the big belly laugh!!!

Rough Day, Good Night
Micah had a rough day yesterday...wanted to be held A LOT. I think a part of it is that he had been sick for a couple of days, so we were holding him more, but now I think it is more stemming from that...so I have to start all over again with letting him cry it out...today seems to be better thus far!! yay!
But, I was so worried last night because I was afraid he wouldn't go to sleep without being held...but nope. He is amazing! He slept over 7 hours, going about 8 hours between feedings, and that was amazing! What a great kid! I love him!!!

Falling Asleep
Micah makes me laugh...
I put him down to watch his favorite toy, his singing, blinky star...he was upset at first, but eventually decided that I was going to leave him there, so he might as well try to enjoy it without crying...

The music on his star stopped, and as I looked over to see if he was going to remain content or if he was going to want me to play it again, I quickly realized he was OK...he was sound asleep...

Micah's First Snow
I know Micah will have many firsts...some he will remember and some he won't...
I know he won't remember this one...his first snow!! I think i was in my first year of college the last time it really snowed...right after spring break my freshman year...so....10 years ago!!! Holy Cow!! a Decade for real?!
So, I had to get a picture since Micah won't remember it and it may not happen again until he is 10! HAHA

Cry Baby
HAHA, this has a whole new meaning to me now!! I do have a 2 1/2 month old cry baby, lol!
So, last night Micah had a very big crying fit and I began to possibly see myself in him, and not sure if that is a good thing or not...
I've recently looked at my baby pictures and can see better how much his mouth looks like mine...even some of his smiles and smirks!!
I've also recently noticed how big I stretch after I wake up from sleep or a nap...just like his big stretches I have always thought were so cute but didn't realize they were very similar to mine!
But last night I think I might have seen more of his personality that could turn out to be similar to mine...the part where I work well with a schedule and with things happening like they are supposed to happen (although just having a kid has made me much more flexible in life). I fed him around 4, but left to go workout at the Y and forgot to change his diaper, which usually happens right after I feed him...so I got home and realized he was still unchanged and was VERY wet, so I thought he would enjoy a dry diaper and I changed him around 6...but I had no intention of feeding him until 7 since he goes about 3 hours normally and that would be right before volleyball practice...
He was having none of this! Almost immediately after I changed him he started crying and we could just not get him to stop for about 45 minutes...not with talking or music or position change or any of the things that normally work...he should not have been hungry yet, but once I finally fed him he was totally fine and then I got worried...is he like me?? That little bit of a different routine with the diaper change?? Was he so afraid that if I changed him then, that maybe, just maybe, I had forgotten to feed him??? Or is he already so aware of the routine that he knew something was desperately wrong and he could just not come to grips with it???
For the most part, he seems a very laid back kid...but that had a lot of drama involved.
I am slightly excited and slightly apprehensive about what else I might see in him that comes from me......

Sleep is Sweet!
I wasn't sure if I should even write about this for fear that it would be a one time thing and I would be sharing my excitement over something that would quickly fade and be forgotten. But no...
So, two night ago Micah ate at 10:40 pm and was in bed by 11. He quickly fell asleep and did not wake until 5:25!! How exciting it is to sleep over 6 hours in a row!
This was very exciting for me and I only hope that it wouldn't be a one-time thing. Micah was fairly normal throughout the rest of yesterday, except that he had a very long crying around 6 pm (and I even thought about not going to volleyball practice because he was being such a drama queen). He ate around 7, though, and that seemed to calm him down, so I dressed him and talked to him about being good at practice:):) Well, I guess he heard me because he fell asleep on the way to practice and did not wake until after we got home!!! Almost 3 hours all in all....
Now, this was great in that a parent simply watched him in his car seat while matt and I both got to coach, but it was also worrisome in that he was having a very long and deep nap not long before I would want him to sleep through the night again....but low and behold, he proved me wrong!!!
We came home and I fed him around 10 and then got some things done around the house while matt kept him awake until about 11 when we all went to bed...and I didn't hear from Micah again until....
5 AM!!!
Another great night, 6 hours straight of sleep. And he may have slept longer, but he was starting to stir a little and I needed to feed him then since I was already getting up soon to fix breakfast for a meeting...
Two nights in a row...what a great birthday present, Thank You Micah!!

It's new everyday!!
And that is SO true right now! Every single day there is something new and exciting! I never would have thought that being a parent would keep me so entertained and give me SOOOO much fulfillment!!! Again, it's appreciating the little things!
When Micah was first born he preferred one of our fingers to a pacifier in his mouth, but then i found a pacifier more like the shape of a finger and with a little texture to it, and he really likes that one! But just last night (while we were at IHOP getting our free pancakes on National Pancake Day) he started to find his own hand! So, I think he is going to be right-handed because this is the one he is trying to get in his mouth (trying being the key for right now). It's pretty cute, it's like he knows he wants the thumb (how do kids know that?) but his hand is in a fist, so he kind of gets his whole hand up there to suck on...cute!!
We'll see what tomorrow brings.....
